isnt this newly launched system of 'call auction' doing more damage than the benefits that were expected out of it? It paints all illiquid stocks with one brush, as if prices of all of them are rigged. Dont know how good is the realtime online surveillance of stock exchanges if they have to do this kind of blanket curb to prevent rigging. If the systems are robust, any abnormal rise in volumes can be immediately noticed and necessary action can be taken. Moving stocks to T2T category and also putting them under this category would be much better. But putting all illiquid stocks under this category of call auction without any complaints of rigging is absurd. SEBI wants the illiquid contracts to become all the more illiquid.
