Coca Cola , Campa Cola , College , Cafe-Memories

St. Stephen's College, Delhi - Memories ( 1975-80 )

1977 was an extraordinary year in country's politics and some consequential effect on college life.
After Janta Party under PM Moraji Desai assumed power , George Sahib kicked out our favourite drink Coca Cola.

In the Cafe ,Coke with Ice cream during summer times ( and toasts with scrambled eggs in winters) were favourites .

Coke was substituted with Indian versions.Erstwhile Coke Bottlers ,Pure Drinks , came out with Campa Cola. Govt. introduced Double Seven ( to mark the 1977 year of their victory .) and Parle with Thumps Up ( later brand sold to Coca Cola after Coke returned to India .)

I cannot forget the gesture of my dear college friend Arun Sharma. His father was posted in Tokyo. Returning from summer vacations , he brought for me Coke cans from Japan.
I loved the day when , ( after college years ) Coca cola returned to India.

But we missed the Pre 1977 ( in smaller 200 ml bottles ) Coke . It had more CO-2 in it and on drinking it some of the gas tickling our nostrils .
